Kristin Bumbera Moving On >From Hamilton Racing
Kristin Bumbera parted ways with Hamilton Racing, Bobby Hamilton Jr's NASCAR Camping World East Series team, following the South Boston 150 at South Boston (Va.) Speedway May 30th. Bumbera's top finish this season was 15th in this last race. Bumbera said it was time to cut her losses. "I'm a fierce competitor and used to winning races and setting poles and track records," Bumbera said. "Qualifying at the back and being in the way of the leaders is certainly not anything I've done for the past 14 years of my career. It seemed that the team never really got off the ground and the morale disintegrated when I refused to pose in questionable attire for an April photo shoot for a potential sponsor. Anyone who knows anything about me knows that I will not compromise my morals to get a ride in a racecar. That's not who I am. If you want that it's out there. Those girls are everywhere, but I'm a racecar driver".
The 21-year-old Bumbera was honored at Daytona in February by NASCAR and named last years Drive for Diversity Program Participant of the Year for her accomplishments and character on and off of the racetrack. She was selected again this year to participate in the program for a second season. Last year Bumbera drove for Golden State Racing in Roseville, CA earning 2 wins and 4 pole awards. She's not a driver who comes into the sport with a famous last name - yet, but has paid her dues since the age of 8 to become the highest-ranking female driver in full time NASCAR competition. Bumbera has 16 wins, 52 top 5's, 92 top 10's, and multiple track records to her credit. She plans to do some racing with her family-owned NASCAR Camping World Series team, Next Generation Racing based out of Houston, TX, but is entertaining some other offers as well.
