KRISTIN BUMBERA TO DRIVE IN TWO NASCAR SERIES� IN 2008
Houston, TX January 21, 2008 - NASCAR announced today during the NASCAR Media Tour in Charlotte, NC that 20 year old Kristin Bumbera from Houston, TX will join Golden State Racing owned by Frank Jordan of Roseville, CA. Bumbera will drive the #00 for the successful west coast team in the NASCAR Whelen All American Series for a minimum of 18 races. Golden State Racing, the reigning NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Champion also holds the championship trophy for the 2006 SRL Wild West Shootout Series and since it�s formation in 2002 has won the NASCAR Weekly Series Championship, the California State Open Comp Championship and are three time Champions at Shasta Raceway Park�s Win River 150. Bumbera joins GSR teammates Eric Schmidt and John Moore as the season kicks off on April 5, 2008 in Roseville, CA.
In only her first year to apply Bumbera was selected as a finalist from over 200 applicants in the 2008 NASCAR Drive for Diversity Program. After having a successful test session in front of NASCAR team owners at South Boston Speedway in October she has signed a contract for her first season in the driver development program.
Bumbera said, �This was my first time to test for NASCAR team owners so of course I was a little anxious. I didn�t really know what to expect. It was a great experience which I�m glad I decided to participate in. I�m looking forward to this season with GSR and Frank Jordan as well as all of the new experiences that I will encounter on and off the track ultimately preparing me for the next level�.
Bumbera brings 13 years of experience to the team. She began her career racing go-karts at the age of 8 and progressed to Super Late Models where she finished 2nd in the 2007 ASA Pro Late Model Championship at Houston Motorsports Park. With 11 career wins, 29 top 5�s, and 66 top 10�s Bumbera is not a newcomer to the sport � but a fresh face with talent and marketability for NASCAR.
In addition to her California racing schedule Bumbera will drive for her family-owned team, Next Generation Racing, Inc., in at least two Camping World Series NASCAR Grand National Races with her same sponsor, TXI - MAXIMIZER CONCRETE returning for their third season. Her first race will be at Thunder Hill Raceway in Kyle, TX on April 19th. On her few off weekends Bumbera plans to gain more seat-time driving her late model at her home track Houston Motorsports Park where her younger brother, Boyd and sister, Kendall both compete.
