KRISTIN BUMBERA Texas' 16 Year Old Rookie of the Year 
Houston, Texas November 9, 2003

Kristin Bumbera only turned 16 this month and has already captured her first big title of her young racing career. She was crowned the 2003 ROOKIE OF THE YEAR for the Houston Motorsports Park Late Model Series after the final race of the season Saturday, October 25th.

Bumbera's racing experience began on a smaller scale at the age of 8 in a dirt-track go-kart and progressed through Super Mini-Cup race cars. Although 2003 was her first season in a full size late model race car she was not intimidated by the drastic increase in size or speed.

In fact not much intimidates this tough Texas lady. Bumbera was not only competing as a rookie in her class, she was the only female driver as well as the youngest driver to compete at the age of 15. When asked how she likes racing with the older gentlemen, she commented, "It's a lot of fun. They're great competition which makes me a better driver."

What are Bumbera's plans now that she has her driver's license and a rookie title? "I'd love to win the track championship at Houston Motor Speedway at least once before moving on to a traveling series. Houston is a great track with great management. I'm blessed to have it here close to my home town so I'm not missing much school."
